Darien EMS-Post 53 consists of a dedicated team of young adults and adult advisors lead by an Executive Director, along with six annually elected officers and a fully volunteer Board of Directors.

Student members are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization. Their responsibilities are vital to the organization and can include any of the following:
Operating the Ambulance | Responding to 911 Service Calls and Providing High Quality Patient Care | Conducting Daily Inspections of the Vehicles, Equipment and Supplies | Coordinating Continuing Education for the Members

Adult Advisors provide guidance and oversight to the student members. Adults staff the first responding ambulance during school hours and serve as a shift supervisor, a position staffed 24 hours a day. Adult Advisors also play a role in managing the Post through mentoring and guidance of young adults in any of the following ways:

Darien EMS-Post 53 is a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.
The current Chairman of the Board is Petter Ostberg. He is joined by community residents, the Director of Post 53, adult advisors and student leaders.
